Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS organized a guest lecture on “Cement Chemistry - its applications & Overview of Indian Cement Industry” by Mr. K. Praveen Kumar Reddy, Manager, National Council for cement and building materials, Delhi and Mr. G. Jaya Chandra Naidu, General Manager, National Council for cement and building materials, Delhi though online on 25/03/2021. In this lecture Mr. K.Praveen Kumar Reddy highlighted on short term and long term diploma courses in cement industry, Indian scenario in Cement Industry. Mr. G. Jaya Chandra Naidu emphasized on raw materials, manufacturing process, different fuels used in cement industry and also on types of cements. Dr. Ch. A guest lecture cum interactive session was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS on 21st November 2019 by Prof. M. Chidambaram, Emeritus Professor of Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Warangal. He spoke on “Modeling and Simulation in Chemical Engineering”. Sensitivity analysis, model validation, analysis of deactivation and disguised kinetics in Transport reactor were discussed. He quoted that “when you stop learning you stop growing”. Dr. Ch. Anil, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and all faculty and students of Chemical Engineering, attended the session.

“Role of Chemical Engineers in Industries"

A guest lecture was conducted on “ Role of Chemical Engineers in Industries” by Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Chemistry on 28th September, 2019 delivered by Mr. Arun Gupta, Vice President & Local Head form Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory Ltd., CTO-6. In his lecture he emphasized on the role of chemical engineers in pharmaceutical industry in various divisions such as process flow and design space, design and setup of batch reactors, design of various equipments, plat utilities, sustainability improvement in the industry. He pointed out that it can be possible only when student should have sound knowledge on various chemical engineering basics in depth and also good communication skills. Students are benefitted by the session and thus a student interactive session was also arranged. Prof. S. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. N. Padmaja, Head, department of Chemistry, faculty, and students participated in the session.

“Carrier opportunities in Animation"

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS arranged an expert lecture on “Carrier opportunities in Animation” by Ms. Santhoshi, Center Head, ARENA AANIMATION, Visakhapatnam, on 7th March, 2019. The speaker shared information on promising trends in the field of animation. Topics like Carrier opportunities, 2D and 3D graphics, VFX usage in movie making and 2D and 3D animations. Students were motivated by the session and thus a student interactive session was also arranged. All the faculty, IV/IV and III/IV students of chemical engineering department participated in the Programme.

“Guest lecture cum interactive session"

A guest lecture cum interactive session was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS on 14th February 2019 by Mr. S. V. Ramana Rao. He had 30years of industrial expertise in Oil & Gas arena (HPCL, Caltex, etc.,). The speaker shared information on Fire, Safety and Hazard Management. He gave a brief outlook on Fire fighting equipments, Environmental, Health and Safety precautions to be considered during hazards. He also explained the concepts of oil spillage which was a threat to marine life. Students had a lively participation in getting clear ideas and making the session useful and successful. Prof. S. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, all faculty and students participated in the Programme.

“Overview of Petroleum Refining Industry & Processes"

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS arranged an expert lecture on “Overview of Petroleum Refining Industry & Processes”by Mr. V. Shashankar, Process engineer, M/S Saudi Aramco, Ras Tanura, on 5th September 2018. The speaker shared information on promising trends in the field of Petroleum Refining. He enlightened the students on various topics like types of crudes, refinery configuration, refinery products and prices, and refinery optimization. Students were benefitted by the session and thus a student interactive session was also arranged. Prof. S. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, faculty and students participated in the Programme.

"Operations and Opportunities in ONGC"

Guest lecture on “Operations and Opportunities in ONGC” by Mr. K. M. K. Chand. Dy. General Manager (Retd) ONGC was arranged by the Department of chemical Engineering ANITS on 06-03-2018. Mr. K. M. K. Chand told that students are future of the Nation and there is no short cut to success. He introduced oil and gas industry to students by focusing on various areas of oil industry like Survey of land which can be done by geoscientists, building of wells by reservoir engineers etc. He also discussed about the upstream, transportation of fluids and downstream of petroleum industry.

Ms. K. Sarada W/O Mr. K. M. K. Chand advised the students to manage their time to know things better. She motivated students to get courage to face the challenges. She told that self-motivation is very important tool to attain success. Students should have skill, knowledge and ability to solve any problems. She also told that students should have sound knowledge on core subjects. She addressed students on how to face an interview. She advised students to add value to education. Prof. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, faculty and students participated in the programme.

“Opportunities for Chemical Engineers”

Mr. Praveen motivated the students by giving the advices in academics. He advised students to go through some websites to gain knowledge all around the world so that they can inter-link with the academics. He made a clear statement that knowledge sharing is knowledge gaining. He encouraged the students to go through the research articles for those one who want to appear for GATE, GRE etc. He suggested the 2nd year students to interact with their seniors. He asked some questions to the students about their goals, what they have done till now in B. Tech. and some probability questions. He also advised students to take help from the faculty for academic purposes, research article, models, internships and other circular activities. Finally he concluded by saying that education is only the most powerful weapon which we can be used to change the world by acquiring the knowledge from various fields.

"Improving Energy Efficiency of Chemical Processes: Potential and Technologies"

Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS organized a guest lecture on 28th December 2017 by Prof. G. P. Rangaiah, adjunct Professor of Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore. He spoke on “Improving Energy Efficiency of Chemical Process”. He focused on heat exchanger networks, pinch analysis, dividing wall column and process intensification. He emphasized on energy recovery, reuse and efficiency. He addressed energy saving techniques for process industries. Prof. T.V. Hanumantha RAo, Principal, ANITS and all faculty and students of Chemical Engineering, attended the session.

“Trends in Engineering Education"

A guest lecture cum interactive session was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS on 20th September 2017 by Prof. M. Chidambaram, Retired Professor of Department of Chemical Engineering IIT Madras. He spoke on “Trends in Engineering Education”. Motivational topics relating education and life were discussed. Points like skills and knowledge of engineering education include features of engineering education, desired characteristics of students. He told that split life into eight eights. He also told that when you stop learning you stop growing. Prof. S.Subba Rao, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and all faculty and students of Chemical Engineering, attended the session.

"Indian Fertilizer Scenario – PROM Technology"

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS, arranged an expert lecture on ‘Indian Fertilizer Scenario – PROM Technology’ by Dr. D. M. R. Sekhar, Director, CEEC International Ltd. Australia, on 30th of August, 2017. The speaker shared information of the revolutionary Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) Technology that reduces the Phosphorous fixation by soil and increases the amount of available phosphate nutrient for plant intake. He also emphasized the necessity of budding chemical engineers to diversify their fields of study so that they get knowledge of how to utilize different branches of engineering and sciences for the betterment of technologies. He also interacted and inspired students to never give up and keep focusing on their goals. The Lecture has been attended by the Head of the Department Prof. S. Subba Rao, the faculty and the students of the department of Chemical Engineering.

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS arranged an expert lecture on “Opportunities for Chemical Engineers through GATE” by Mr. Vamsi Krishna Yevvari, Head Gateforum, Vizag region, on 30th July 2017. The speaker shared information on promising trends in the field of Chemical Engineering through GATE. Topics like Carrier opportunities, various fields of research studies and information on foreign universities were highlighted in the talk. New integrated courses in India and abroad were discussed in detail. Students were motivated by the session and thus a student interactive session was also arranged, Prof. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, faculty and students participated in the Programme.

“Optimal design of Desalination Processes using differential evolution Algorithm”

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS arranged an expert lecture on “Optimal design of Desalination Processes using differential evolution Algorithm” by Prof. Uppaluri Ramagopal, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Guwahati on 26th August 2016. The speaker shared information on various optimization techniques, use of optimization studies, identification of best process conditions for increasing efficiency and reducing process cost. He has enunciated the importance of creative and crucial thinking and explained the desalination process with everyday examples. Topics like reverse osmosis, MULTIEFFECT evaporation and hybrid desalination techniques were covered. Carrier opportunities, various fields of research studies and information on higher chemical engineering studies were highlighted in the talk. Students were motivated by the “what if” analysis questions, analytical aptitude tips shared by the speaker and a student interactive session was also arranged. Prof. Subba Rao, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, faculty and students participated in the Programme.

“Good Habits- Nutrition”

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS, arranged an expert lecture on 13th August 2016 at 10:30 a.m. on “Good Habits- Nutrition” as per the instructions by Andhra University on the directions of Government of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of “Krishna Pushkaralu”, August 2016.

Dr. R. TULASI RAO, Naturopathy consultant and Asst. Professor, Department of Yoga and consiousness Andhra University delivered the keynote lecture. Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Subba Rao and Dr. Mary Anupama also spoke on the occasion.Dr. Tulasi Rao gave insights into right amounts of intake of principal nutrients, vitamins and minerals. He also focused on various lifestyle disorders like hyperacidity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension etc and explained the ways of controlling them through right eating habits. The lecture included topics like constipation, immunity disorders and various diseases related to nutritional deficiency.

Dr. T.V.Hanumantha Rao, Principal ANITS, Dr.V.Sri Devi, Dean, Prof. Subba Rao, Head and faculty of Chemical Engineering, H.O.Ds , Faculty and students of various departments of ANITS were present at the session. A short interaction session with the speaker was also arranged after the session. Faculty and students of various department have taken active participation making the event a grand success.

"The Advanced Technologies in Petroleum Refining"

The Department of Chemical Engineering, of Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS), organized a guest lecture on “The Advanced Technologies in Petroleum Refining”, delivered by Mr. B. Ravi Kumar, Grade C Officer (DMR), R&D, IOCL on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The guest lecture is attended by Professor S. Subba Rao, Head of the department, faculty and the students of chemical engineering department. The speaker shared his vast experiences with Chemical Industries and how he rose from a mediocre college student to one of the sought after pioneers and researchers in the field of Chemical Engineering, which is a great inspiration for the budding students of the department. Mr. Kumar stressed on the wide applications of Chemical Engineering at different levels in our day to day lives and the wider innovative technologies that can be found for the betterment of mankind in this stream. While covering the different products that are produced from a Petroleum Refinery, he showcased the role of a Chemical Engineer in the upstream and downstream processes, along with designing and marketing sections where they play an important role. He emphasized on the number of opportunities that are currently available for a Chemical Engineer, which, he opined, would be easily utilized with focus and hard work. Prof. S. "FUEL CELLS – OVERVIEW AND CHALLENGES"

The Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS has arranged an expert lecture on “Fuel Cells – Overview and Challenges” by Dr. P.V. Suresh, Asst. Prof., Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Warangal on 15-07-2016. The speaker shared information on Global challenges of fuel cells, Issues and possible remedies, promising trends in the field of Chemical Engineering. Topics like Environmental degradation, role of fuel cells in clean technologies were highlighted in the talk. A short student interaction session was also arranged. Prof. V. Sri Devi, Dean, ANITS, Prof. G. H. Rao, Prof. S. Subba Rao, Head, faculty and students of department of Chemical Engineering participated in the Programme.

"Guest Lecture cum Interactive Session"

A guest lecture cum interactive session was organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering, ANITS on 21st Sept. 2015. The session was initiated by Dr. Paruchuri Gangadhar Rao, Vice chancellor, University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya and was taken upon by Dr. Rama Brahmam, Senior Principal Scientist, Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai. Topics like current job scenario in Chemical Engineering, pursuing higher studies in India and abroad, role of chemical engineer in the society in solving problems like solid waste management, pollution control, alternative energy sources and conservation of energy were discussed. Industrial safety and trouble- shooting problems in industries were also discussed along with specific examples. The faculty and students had a lively participation in getting clear ideas and making the session useful and successful. Dr. V.S.R.K Prasad, Principal, Prof. S.Subba Rao, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr.V. Sri Devi, Dean, faculty and students attended the session. Dr. V.S.R.K.Prasad, had an equal and active participation answering queries of the students.

"Issues related to reactor design"

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, ANITS arranged an expert lecture on “Issues related to reactor design” by Dr. D.V.R. Murthy, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT Surathkal, Karnataka on 25th July, 2015. The speaker shared information on mode of operation of reactors, complete design including process and mechanical design. Topics like shape/geometry, size, operating conditions of reactor vessels were highlighted in the talk. Points like energy and environmental related issues, safety and economics were discussed in detail. Students were motivated by the session and thus a student interactive session was also arranged. "Building up career in pharmaceutical industry-challenges and rewards"

An Invited lecture on “Building up career in pharmaceutical industry-challenges and rewards” was given by Dr.Sudarsan of Mylan Laboratories on January 8th, 2015 in Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, ANITS. Dr.Sudarsan is a team leader of Information systems-Quality at Mylan laboratories, Hyderabad. Dr.Sudarsan explained to students about a pharmaceutical industry, the different divisions and their functions, the growth of pharmaceutical industry in manufacturing and R&D areas in India. He also described the role of chemical engineers, biotechnologists in the various divisions of the industry and advised students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems. Dr.Sudarsan also discussed the various skill sets, job designations, career opportunities and hiring companies in the pharmaceutical area. He advised students to learn continuously to attain a successful career. Dr.Sudarsan’s session was highly educative, interactive and energetic. "MANUFACTURING OF THERMOSET LAMINATES"

GUEST LECTURE on Manufacturing of Thermoset Laminates delivered by Sri.S. Shyam Prasad, Vice president (Operations), AICA PVT LTD, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand organized by Department of Chemical Engineering & Mechanical engineering on 14th August 2014.

Shri.S. Shyam Prasad, has given a talk on Manufacturing of thermoset laminates where he emphasized on different laminates like Decorative & Industrial laminates. He also stressed on different standards and grades in the make of laminates by SUNMICA. He also explained the properties, uses and applications of the laminates in industry. He said that laminates are used for easy replacement & fabrication compared to others. He also highlighted that there are materials available that can be used in railways which help in avoiding of spread of fire during short circuits.

He also emphasized on the quality policy of the makers like safety standards and quality management system. Prof. V.S.R.K Prasad, Principal, ANlTS, Prof. D. Subba Rao, Professor (Retd.) of Andhra University, Prof. S. Subba Rao, Professor of Chemical Engineering, ANlTS, faculty members and students participated in the program.

"Biomedical Engineering and Tissue engineering with respect to tissue replacement using scaffold mechanism"

Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology hosted Blaze concluding session with a guest lecture of Mr. Sonayya, alumni student of department who is pursuing M.S in Bio-Medical Engineering from Texas University.He has given a talk on the concepts of Biomedical Engineering and Tissue engineering with respect to tissue replacement using scaffold mechanism. He also discussed different areas of research offering by Texas University. He also observed that plagiarism is strictly followed in universities abroad. He shared his experiences in the university campus like library, Kalpana chawla building.

He also discussed the credit system followed in Texas University. Students will be preparing the laboratory experiments and project report on their own without the help of Guide.

Followed by the lecture BLAZE concluding session was initiated by Prof.V.Sridevi, HOD, Department of Che & BT and Dr. G. Hanumantha Rao, Professor, Department of Che & BT. Students participated in various activities like extra circular and co-circular activities were distributed prizes by the faculty of Department.

An invited talk on "Scope and Opportunities for young Chemical Engineers" was given in Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, ANITS by Dr. K. Rama Rao, Postdoctoral Research .Fellow and Consultant in Singapore Delft Water Alliance (SDWA), National University of Singapore, Singapore. He gave a brief introduction on nature inspired evolutionary optimizations like Ant Colony, Genetic algorithm, Tabu Search, Particle Swarm Optimization, Simulated Annealing and Cuckoo Search Optimization. He also discussed the importance of Modeling in Chemical Engineering and its applications in various fields like Ocean Dynamics, Financial Economics and Information technology. He briefed on creating opportunities and grabbing them by doing some sort of exercises like extensive research, interacting with experts, posting their queries on global forums and surfing the web for information. He advised the students not to follow like a flock of sheep. He also discussed the various careers in life based on interest. He mentioned a few careers and their basic qualifications for Academics, industry, Entrepreneur and Free lancer. Prof. V S R I( Prasad, Principal, Prof. G. Hanumantha Rao, Prof. V. Sridevi, Head, faculty and students of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology attended the guest lecture.

“Chemical Engineer as an all round Engineer”

An invited talk on “Chemical Engineer as an all round Engineer” was given in Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, ANITS by Mr. R V Rao, Divisional Manager, Ramsis Engineering, Bahrain. He explained in detail about the role and importance of Chemical Engineers in process industry. He explained how he succeeded in life even though he joined Chemical Engineering as a last option in his graduation. He elucidated on how Chemical Engineering plays a better and key role in process industry, compared to other branches of engineering. He enlightened students on how we can apply our software skills in Chemical Engineering to develop new tools and play a vital role in progress of the industry.

He briefed on the issues he had faced in the beginning of his career and motivated the students to aspire and strive hard to reach their goals. He also emphasized to give priority to social service over money making and how conceptual learning helps a person become more educated than rote learning. He added that determination and ability to accept changes in life as challenging opportunities helps us to succeed in life. He also advised the students to be continuous learners and to widen their horizon of knowledge, which helps them to attain greater height in their career. Prof. V S R K Prasad, Principal, HOD, faculty and students of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology attended the guest lecture.

“Need for Industry Ready Education”

Dr. Kondapi. Phandeendra, an Engineering Manager, Flow Management at FMC Technologies and KBR Adjunct Professor of Subsea Engineering at University of Houston, Texas presented an informative guest lecture on “Need for Industry Ready Education” at Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS), Sangivalasa, Vishakhapatnam.

Dr. Phandeendra emphasized the needs of success are Energy, Integrity and Delivery for a successful career in the industry. He explained novel teaching technique, “Reverse Circular Teaching Technique” developed by him to create interest among the students and also for better understanding of the subject. He enlightened that success can be achieved by three step process comprising of understanding concepts, meeting course requirements and getting ready for industry. He also stressed that students should acquire Management, Leadership, Communication and Presentation skills to reach higher positions in their chosen career. Prof .V.S.R.K. Prasad, Principal,ANITS highlighted the model of Dr. Phaneedra to students to throw light on how a person can come up well in his career through hard work, dedication and commitment to the profession chosen.

"Introduction to Chemical Engineering and prospectus of Chemical Engineering"

An invited talk on “Introduction to Chemical Engineering and prospectus of Chemical Engineering” was given in Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, ANITS by Ms. A. Hemalatha M. Tech. (Ph.D.). She explained the methods and advantages of working in a group and sharing knowledge, a method of study implementation at several IIT’s. She emphasized the importance of summer internships with reputed industries and institutes like IIT’s. In this regard she has discussed about Summer Internship Research Fellowship (SURF). She suggested the necessity of systematic and planned study to get good score in GATE. She emphasized on the conceptual study by understanding the practical applications of the learned concepts. She also suggested the importance of speaking and communication and advice to attend CAT classes for improvement of Communication Skills.

"Biotechnology Prospective in Engineering"

Dr. Renu Swarup, Adviser, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Managing Director of BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) has visited ANITS on 6th June, 2013 and discussed about the Biotechnology Prospective in Engineering and the needs for demand of interdisciplinary research among various disciplines of engineering. She had elaborated how the young researchers have to pick up innovative ideas and develop the applications to bio-industrial advantage. She also stressed that woman scientists have to come forward to utilize the opportunity provided by Govt of India for encouraging them to emerge as excellent contributors in the area of research. Dr. Renu Swarup stressed the need of encouragement for entrepreneurship through entrepreneur development cell (EDC). She also emphasized the importance of emerging fields like Nanotechnology and Bioinformatics. Prof. V.S.R.K Prasad, Principal, ANITS insisted the faculty to apply for the research projects in Biotechnology with interdisciplinary applications by associating with faculty of other engineering disciplines. He also emphasized how Bioengineering industry will be the leader for 21st century. Head of the Departments & Senior Faculty members were present in the program.
